The HKFT is building the Annapurna Buddhist Monastery in Ghandruk, on the way to the Annapurna Base Camp. From this location they offer support to the people of Nepal for their educational, medical, spiritual, and artistic needs.

The Indo Handicap Society is a small, one man, operation that does big things for the villagers of Rajasthan. Among other things (whatever is most needed is the order of the day), Mr. Sharma operates an ambulance, digs wells, and distributes clothing.
Your donation supports their efforts for research, study and training. ISLT is very active in helping local people (and their livestock) learn to co-exist peacefully with the snow leopard.

This organization distributes a monthly pension to elderly widows, distributes food to poor families, and offers educational assistance to needy students for higher education.
Maitri Leprosy Center
The Maitri (Sanskrit for "Universal Love and Compassion") Center
offers medical help and drug therapy for people with leprosy and TB in
the state of Bihar. Through the use of their mobile clinic, they treat
about 850 people a month. They are affiliated with the Foundation for

Nepal Centre for Rivarian Lives Research and Development
"Save the Dolphins of Nepal". Susu, as the Nepalese call their Gangetic River Dolphins, are in extreme danger, their numbers eroded by dams, habitat degradation, pollution, and toxic contaminates. Only about 30 of them still remain, mostly on the Karnali River of Western Nepal, but also on the Koshi and the Narayani River. To support their research, NCRRD operates Dolphin Manor, a completely eco sensitive wildlife resort on the borders of the Bardiya National Park at the Karnali River in western Nepal. Donations are appreciated to the above address, and they need a volunteer to build their web site.
Earthwatch offers travellers the opportunity to assist research associates and scientists in field projects designed to promote conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage. They currently have three projects operating in India: Wolves of India, Indian Textile Artisans, and Maternal and Child Care. There are two projects in Nepal: River Tourism and The Snow Leopard of Nepal.
Global Volunteers supports the Dazzling Stone Orphanage, about ½ hour outside of Chennai (Madras). They are in the process of building a new facility for their 500 students, and need volunteers and donations to help complete this building. Volunteers pay a fee (tax deductible) which is used to purchase building materials and can sign up for 2 or 3 weeks of helping out.SEWA
